Club News:
The Toad Hollow Trail Riders have been keeping a close eye on county and state developments that impact our snowmobiling community. Here's what's been happening:

County/State Updates

• Tim Taylor reported on the May 6th NYSSA meeting, where significant changes were discussed. The most notable is an increase in registration fees, set to take effect next season (2024-2025). The maintenance fund portion of the fee will increase from $90 to $125 for individuals who aren't affiliated with a club and from $35 to $55 for club members. The total cost of registering a snowmobile will increase from $100 to $135 for nonmembers and from $45 to $65 for club-affiliated members. This marks the first fee increase in 15 years and is expected to provide additional funding for trail maintenance.

• In other news, the Executive Director's position held by Jenn Senf is now open following her resignation. We welcome Robert Korosec as the new Trail Coordinator, bringing over 20 years of experience in the snowmobile community. Additionally, Roseanne Warner has resigned as Secretary, and Jennifer Lawton has been named the Interim Secretary (Term ends 2024).

• Renee reported that we received the 2022-2023 70% check from NYS Parks/OCSA and the 30% check is still pending.

New Business

• A motion was put forth by Joy Dorfer and seconded by Tim Taylor to donate to the Navarino Food Pantry. All members were in favor of this charitable contribution.
• Members have voted to alternate meeting venues every other month for the upcoming season. Our meeting venues will be the Amber Inn and Tanner Valley Golf Course.
• The Snowmobile Safety Course is scheduled for November 4th at the Pompey Rod and Gun Club. Our experienced instructors will be Debbie Sawmiller and Jennifer Lawton.
• Greg Sawmiller proposed a motion to purchase a Toad Hollow Club (logo) pop-up tent to use during events, with a budget of $600.00. We will table this discussion until our next meeting to allow for thorough research into prices and sizes.

50th Anniversary

Lastly, we'd like to take a moment to celebrate the Toad Hollow Trail Roders are marking their 50th anniversary this year. These milestones are a testament to the enduring spirit of snowmobiling and the dedication of our members. Congratulations Toads on reaching this significant milestone! Here's to the shared history that has brought us to this point, and to the exciting snowmobiling season that lies ahead!

Trails:

As we gear up for the upcoming snowmobiling season, there are some important updates regarding our trails and grooming equipment that we'd like to share with our valued members:

Groomer Update

Greg Sawmiller, has provided an update on our grooming equipment. It appears that our groomer will need new tires and a wheel. To address this, we've explored the possibility of purchasing a used set from Song Mountain. A motion was made by Greg Sawmiller to allocate $1,200.00 for the purchase of the tires and wheel, which was seconded by Dan Bilow.

Additionally, Steve Frank has suggested a club gathering to give our groomer a fresh look with some new paint. We believe this will not only enhance the appearance of our equipment but also demonstrate our commitment to maintaining our grooming fleet. All members who are interested in contributing to this project are encouraged to participate.

Trail Updates

Our Trail Master, Steve Frank, has expressed his eagerness to continue in his role but emphasizes the importance of support from our club members for successful trail maintenance. We have acquired new trail signs to improve the trail experience and safety for all riders. Furthermore, we recognize the need for repairs to some of our existing signs. Stay tuned for upcoming trail work dates, and we hope to see many of you out there helping to keep our trails in excellent condition.

Trail Opening Reminder

We're all eager to hit the trails, but it's essential to remember that trails do not open until deer season ends. For our trails, this will be on January 2nd landowner and weather permitting. Please respect this schedule to ensure the safety of all trail users.

In closing, we share your enthusiasm for a snowy and successful snowmobiling season. Last year's lack of snowfall and challenging conditions were tough for everyone. We're optimistic that any amount of snow and colder temperatures will be a vast improvement over last season, and we're eagerly looking forward to sharing the trails with you once again.

Thank you for your ongoing support and dedication to the Toad Hollow Trail Riders. Together, we'll make the upcoming season one to remember!
